Here are some of our favourite road trip destinations in WA.
World heritage listed, the Bungle Bungles are located within the picturesque Purnululu National Park in WA’s famous Kimberley region. The orange and black sandstone domes tower 300 metres above their surrounds, offering an incredible and iconic natural site. Explore the range on foot, weave in and out amongst the rocks and take in the local birds and wildlife that call the Bungle Bungles home.
Another one of WA’s many natural wonders, The Pinnacles are situated in Nambung National Park along a serene coastline just north of Perth. Attracting tourists far and wide, The Pinnacles provide a glimpse into the geological history of Australia. After you explore The Pinnacles, set up camp in your caravan or make your way into the nearby town of Cervantes for dinner, entertainment and local culture.
Shaped like a tall breaking ocean wave with multiple colours and shades, Wave Rock forms the north side of Hyden Rock. Wave Rock has been eroded by weather over millions of years, creating a unique and iconic formation that stands out against its backdrop. 15 metres high and 110 metres long, Wave Rock is a must-see for travellers passing through the area and exploring the local towns.
How often can you marvel at a natural lake that looks almost impossible? Lake Hillier, situated off the south coast of WA on the edge of Middle Island, attracts tourists and locals for its striking bubblegum pink appearance. Pictures don’t do Lake Hillier justice – it must be seen in person to be fully appreciated. Stop by on your next WA road adventure and explore the nearby surrounds.
Discover wildlife, flora and fauna from way up in the treetops. Exhilarating, memorable and the experience of a lifetime, embark on a treetop walk to enjoy a new perspective of the ground you walk on. Internationally-recognised as one of the best treetop walks in the world, the Valley of the Giants treetop walk features a vast landscape encompassing rivers, wetlands, beaches, forests, granite peaks and more. You’ll also spot the old majestic tingle forests unique to the region. Find the Valley of the Giants between Denmark and Walpole in the Walpole-Nornalup National Park.
